Healthy Living Programme Brings Brain Health Breakfasts to Dundee Pupils

February 19, 2026

We are delighted to have recently partnered with Scotmid and Alzheimer Scotland to deliver a high-energy "Brain Health Week" for over 650 pupils at Dundee’s North East Campus.

The initiative, which brought together pupils from Longhaugh Primary School, St Francis RC Primary School, and Quarry View Nursery, placed a vital focus on how daily habits, nutrition, and wellbeing support long-term brain health.

As part of our mission to make healthy choices accessible and engaging, the Healthy Living Programme team coordinated the Welby Breakfast sessions. Supported by Scotmid volunteers, these nutritious starts to the day provided pupils with the fuel needed for a day of learning, while reinforcing practical lessons on how food impacts sustained energy and brain function.

The week was packed with immersive experiences, including:

Babs the Brain, a large interactive inflatable that allowed pupils to explore the wonders of the human brain.

Educational sessions led by Alzheimer Scotland to teach children how everyday choices affect health.

From yoga and creative workshops to outdoor learning, the pupils participated in activities designed to promote physical and mental wellness.

Kathryn Neil, our Programme Director, noted the importance of these community-led events:

“The Healthy Living Programme is about making healthier choices easy, engaging and accessible for children and communities. School breakfast programmes are a powerful way to start conversations around nutrition, energy and brain health, and it’s fantastic to see the creativity and enthusiasm shown across North East Campus.”

We are incredibly proud to support the North East Schools and look forward to continuing our work in making healthy living a reality for pupils across Scotland.
